Mission

Mission strives to enact the following:

    Respond to those unable to provide for their own needs in the local, nation and international communities.
    Proactively participate in local mission projects (our own and ecumenically).
    Support the Program and Mission of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) at the General Assembly, Synod, and Presbytery levels.

    Second Mile Offering 2008

The Second Mile offering is a special monthly offering for a specific project that our mission unit has chosen. This offering is in addition to personal tithing. A basket is also provided in the Narthex for canned food for the Valparaiso Christian Food Pantry. Each month we have designated items the pantry has asked for.

January ----- Bibles for China Mission Trip

February ----- Christian Food Pantry

March ----- One Great Hour offering is sent to Presbytery of USA they in turn help any where in the world in a trauma situation such as flood, earthquake, fires etc.

April ----- Spring Valley Shelter - Raise the Roof

May ----- Wabash Valley Presbytery - Geneva Center

June ----- Kids Alive International

July ----- Back to School Offering to help local children that need assistance with school supplies. This is done with the help of our school social workers.

August ----- Union Community Church

September ----- Indiana Dunes Great Banquet Community

October ----- Grace Memorial Hospital, Brazil

November ----- P.W. Blanket Project

December ----- Joy Offering is for retired clergy ministering to small churches that could not afford retirement or medical expenses. The fund also helps ethnic young people with college education, which is distributed by Presbytery of U.S.A.

December -----All Loose Offerings on Christmas Eve are for the Shoe Fund. This was established over 30 years ago by our church for the purpose of helping local family's in need that could not afford boots or shoes for their children. Social workers in the Porter County school systems are our source for this project.
