Thoughts from my almanac

Daylight Savings Time is over... finally. So... it is no longer CDT but now CST. For me being an early riser, now when I leave the house before 6:00 a.m. it is light again and I can see where I am going. (We older folks like to operate in the light.)

Here in NW Indiana (Central Time) and with my work with Geneva Center in Rochester (Eastern Time) I frequently find myself traveling between these two Time Zones and getting confused easily about when I am supposed to be where at what time. Am I EST or EDT or CST or CDT. Whew!! Life can be complicated, sometimes.

Coming fast is the winter solstice. Will this winter be a 'real NW Indiana winter' like our first year back 2013?... or will it be like last year, a mild and pretty tolerable winter?

Farmer's Almanac 2017-2018 says: A Wet and Snowy Winter All-Around

Precipitation will be at above-normal levels throughout the country, which will translate to equally above-normal amounts of snowfall in parts of the Northeast, central Great Lakes, central Plains, Intermountain region, and from eastern Tennessee through New Mexico. Get your shovels ready! Notable exceptions to this wet winter are the Pacific Northwest and Upper Midwest, where less precipitation than usual is expected.

Maybe we will be OK... yet, I am not accepting that forecast made by 'someone' quite some time ago.

Interesting thought... I won't accept the forecast of an unknown weather prognosticator but I also really struggle at times accepting the forecast from my known God who has told me "I will always love you". Another 'Wow Moment' for me when I stopped to think about it. After all the good things God has done for me and for all the predictions God made that came true... why do I still doubt? Is it because I feel I am not worthy? Why can't I just accept God's 'grace' and be happy? Hmmm... like I said above, life can be complicated, sometimes.

May you have a wonderful Thanksgiving ...and make time to give "thanks" on that day.
