A Bonanza for this Blogger

These past few weeks have been a bonanza for me since as I seem to always work in the weather in my blogs. ARCTIC COLD, HIGH WINDS, FROZEN WATER (didn’t want to use ICE), LAKE EFFECT SNOW, SUB-ZERO TEMPERATURES and more predictions of BIG STORMs coming. Scary stuff indeed. But, hey, this year is just one of the normal winters we used to have but have not seen the last two years.

Those of us who don’t escape to warmer climates have our shovels, snowblowers, mittens, scarves, hats, heaters, ice scrapers, and other ways to carry us through until spring arrives.

I always find a relationship with the weather and my faith. With the weather there is a satellite-based forecast, radar tracking, hour by hour reporting, et al. …so we can know what is coming, prepare for it as best we can, and help others if disaster befalls them. There are always the emergency services to help out during a weather event and recovery groups that help if things turn bad.

Unfortunately, with life, we don’t always get (sometimes there are some) early warnings, a precise forecast, radar tracking or other advance information of things to come. Stuff happens. Too often without warning. What are we to do? For me, I rely on my faith and my friends and on God to be there with me to manage the storms of life. Being part of a church family like here at FPCV is important to me because I know that when a need or concern arises, there will be people there to help me, comfort me, and stand with me as needed. God is always there, but so are the members of this church family.

Today, I have what is hopefully a routine surgical procedure…that was somewhat predictable. The outpouring of good wishes and prayers and thoughtful comments was quite unexpected…but so much appreciated. I plan to be sure to provide that same level of support for others in this church family when they need it. It is soooo important and valuable to know we don’t face our troubles and challenges alone. We have our church family …and we always have God with us. Very reassuring.

Blessings to all,

Jim
